Houston Press – The Weekly Fix: Wendy Wagner: Once Uponse a Time in the Land of O-Poppida”? at Darke Gallery, Every week Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday from Fri., May 13 until Sat., July 9 There?s a certain childlike whimsy to the work in Wendy Wagner?s new solo exhibit, ?Once Uponse a Time in the Land of O-Poppida,? which is appropriate, considering that many of the works are concerned with themes of childhood and family memories. One painting shows a girl napping with a stuffed horse, her bed a pastel pink drifting in a yellow cloud.

Wagner has taken over both floors of the Darke Gallery for the exhibition, and having such a large space allows her to exhibit a variety of media and a large range of pieces. It also gives viewers the ability to get a more complete picture of Wagner as an artist. Noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays, noon to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
